On Wednesday 31st August 2022, the Council for Scientific & Industrial Research - Water Research Institute (CSIR-WRI) hosted the introduction of the newly appointed Director-General and inaugurated the Management Boards of the CSIR-WRI and CSIR-Building and Road Research Institute (CSIR-BRRI). In the welcome address delivered by the Director of CSIR-WRI, Prof. Mike Yaw Osei-Atweneboana, he stated that he deemed it a great day and felt honoured to host the day's event. His euphoric sense could not be hidden. He stated that the two (2) Institutes were cognate Institutes and called upon both Management Boards to work hand-in-hand and engage in more interactions in order to raise the status quo of both institutions. He indicated that both Institutes were pivotal in the CSIR.  Prof. Osei-Atweneboana was of the view that moving forward the target of both Directors was to ensure that more technologies are developed and would rely on the much-needed skills and expertise of the Management Boards. They will also ensure that both Institutes are able to seek donor funding and receive more grants to improve the efficiencies of both Boards.

In a statement by Prof. Paul Pinnock Bosu, the Director-General of CSIR, He expressed his appreciation towards the Council Chair and its members for their enormous support that has been extended to him. He pledged his support and commitment to justify the confidence reposed in him by all the Management Boards in the various Institutes, the Institute Directors and all the staff of CSIR. He was grateful for the confidence and support bestowed on him since he assumed the role of Director General. He called on the distinguished Board Members of the two (2) Institutes to endeavor to bring their expertise to bear on their various Institutes to enable the Institutes discharge their mandate's accordingly for the socio-economic development of Ghana. He called on the staff of the Institutes to continue supporting his vision by putting in little efforts such as getting to work early, and regularly writing proposals to attract funding from donors among others.  Prof. Bosu solicited for continuous effort in improving Research and Development as this is key in the corporate strategic plan and his vision for CSIR during his five (5) year tenure.

The Council Chair Prof. Robert Kingsford-Adaboh on behalf of the CSIR Council, applauded the two Institutes, WRI and BRRI on their contribution and performance within the Council. He commended the remarkable changes in the landscaping and structural modifications within WRI as a sign of good leadership of Prof. Osei-Atweneboana. He also praised the Director of BRRI, Prof. Asenso-Gyambibi for his prolific leadership. He stated that both leaders should be encouraged and given all the support they require in executing their mandates. Prof Kingsford-Adaboh expressed his delight in the long-awaited inauguration of the Management Boards of both Institutes and reiterated the importance of the Management Board as it is backed by the CSIR Act for the continuing governance of CSIR. He encouraged the Management Boards to act as "indicators for direction of both Institutes". He lauded the new Management Boards and affirmed his confidence in them to perform exceptionally. 

As a pledge to support the Director General and the Management Boards of both WRI and BRRI, the various staff representatives, that is; Research Staff Association (RSA), CSIR Administrators Association of Ghana (CAAG), Senior Staff Association (SSA) and Local Union, Trades Union Congress (TUC) gave their solidarity messages. 

Prof. Osei-Atweneboana and Prof. Asenso-Gyambibi introduced the Board Chairs and members of the WRI and BRRI Management Boards, respectively. They were sworn-in by the Council Chair, Prof. Kingsford-Adaboh. In a statement by the Board Chairman for WRI, Mr. Anthony Boateng a specialist in financial management, he was elated and honored to be assigned the role and pledged to deliver his topnotch service to the Board and CSIR as a whole.
