New Director General Of The Council For Scientific And Industrial Research Visits The Water Research Institute

director visitThe new Director General of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, Dr. Victor Kwame Agyeman (In a Red flying tie), paid a visit to the Management and staff of the Water Research Institute on Monday 19th January, 2015. He was accompanied by the Acting Director of Administration of CSIR, Mr. Issahaku Adam, the Legal Officer of the CSIR, Yaw Paintsil and a Senior Scientific Officer, Mr. Edward Decker. It was his first official visit to the Institute after assuming office on Tuesday 1st January 2015.

In an address to introduce the New Director General of the CSIR, the immediate past Director General of the CSIR, Dr. A. B. Salifu, stated that the CSIR has a vigorous process of selecting its Director Generals and as such any person who goes through the process and comes out victorious is a potential strong leader capable of directing the affairs of the CSIR. He was affirmative that being confident, competent and experienced, the new Director General could succeed.

Staff of the CSIR Water Research Institute were therefore asked to believe in their new Director General who is also a legal practitioner to deliver on his Agenda. They were also advised to “keep tomorrow intact by not killing today” as some among them could easily meet the criteria for future appointment as Director General of the CSIR.

Addressing staff of the CSIR Water Research Institute, the new Director General of the CSIR, Dr. Victor K. Agyeman, asked for unity and a positive mindset to build the CSIR for posterity. He promised to do everything possible to uplift the image of the Institute and the Council as a whole.

To ensure in the fulfillment of his dream and ambition to help transform the CSIR to impact positively on the Ghanaian society and beyond, he was committed to work closely with all past Director Generals, Directors and staff of the CSIR as a whole.

In line with the above, the Board Chairman of the CSIR Water Research Institute, Mr. Peter K. O. Amponsah-Mensah, speaking on behalf of the Management Board of the Institute, pledged their unflinching support for the new Director General and seized the opportunity to remind all staff to work diligently to achieve their mission which is ‘to conduct research into all aspects of water resources…for the socio economic advancement of the country’.

The Director of the Institute, Dr. J. A. Ampofo also pledged to support the new Director General to accomplish all task associated with his appointment. He also showed appreciation for a pledge made earlier by the out-gone Director General, Dr. A. B. Salifu, to assist the Institute acquire a new drilling Rig.

There were other well wishing messages from the various associations such as the Research Staff Association (National and local), Senior Staff Association, TUC (National and local).
