Mr. Carl Michael Ofori-Agyeman Research Scientist, Groundwater Division, CSIR-Water Research Institute Mr. Carl Michael Ofori-Agyeman is a Research Scientist, in the Groundwater Division and in the Tamale office of Council for Scientific and Industrial Research-Water Research Institute (CSIR-WRI). He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Engineering at the University of Science and Technology (U.S.T. now KNUST) in Kumasi in 1989, and Master of Science degree in Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi in 2006. He has enormous experience in geophysical exploration for groundwater location, borehole mechanization using either solar or electricity grid. He also has rich experience in Sanitation, Hygiene and Community sensitization for improved livelihood and income generation activities. He develops more interest in areas of difficult terrain with low groundwater for redemption of enough water to meet the water supply needs of the rural communities underlain by such difficult terrain.

 He supervises undergraduate students on their projects leading to their thesis and train them in the basic principles of geophysical investigations in search of groundwater.

He has been the Principal Investigator of a research work on “Assessment of Groundwater Resources in the Northern Region of Ghana” which commenced in 2011 and ended in 2015, and is currently on similar research work “Assessment of Groundwater Resources in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana” which is ongoing. The purpose of the study to assess the general groundwater potential and availability in the various rock types in the region for domestic water supply and industrial purposes and also develop an updated composite hydro geological map of the region. In addition to these research works, he is embarked on another research of “De-salination of Borehole Water Using Local Materials-Case study Northern Region of Ghana”. Being a man of diversity, He intends to focus in due course, research works on Sanitation, Hygiene and Waste Water Management and Utilization. He has forwarded papers on earlier completed research work of the Northern Region for assessment.
